Queens GOP Makes Major Endorsements in Statewide and Local Races
May 17, 2010 – At the Queens Republican Party’s May Executive Committee meeting, a number of important endorsements were made in critical races in the effort to take control of the U.S. Congress and the N.Y. State Senate.
In the highly anticipated race to challenge Sen. Kristin Gillibrand, the Queens GOP endorsed former Congressman Joe DioGuardi. The committee expressed their belief that DioGuardi, a CPA, had both the experience and fiscal acumen to beat Gillibrand and lead the way for reform in Washington. To challenge Sen. Chuck Schumer, the committee endorsed Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos, who has successfully been leading the effort to reform Nassau’s budget woes in the face of crippling taxation and red ink.
To replace Andrew Cuomo as Attorney General the Queens GOP endorsed the highly regarded Staten Island District Attorney, Dan Donovan, in what is seen as one of the most competitive statewide races and possibly the best chance for a GOP pick up.

Queens GOP Backs Judge Beltrani for Monserrate Seat
The Queens County Republican Party last night endorsed Administrative Law Judge Robert Beltrani to run against former Senator Hiram Monserrate who was convicted for a domestic violence and expulsed from the Senate for this infamous and violent scandal and Assembly Member Jose Peralta who is being investigated for approximately $500,000 in unaccounted for taxpayer funds and campaign finance violations. Whether this will ultimately result in a Seabrook or Mclaughlin style indictment remains to be seen.
Judge Robert Beltrani has served as an Administrative Law Judge for the New York City Department of Finance and is presently an Administrative Law Judge for the New York State Division of Parole. He is a prominent Jackson Heights attorney who has been found well qualified to run for Queens Supreme and Civil Court judge by both the Republican and Conservative Party's judicial screening panels.
Judge Beltrani lives with his wife Maria D'armis-Beltrani, also an accomplished attorney and their 4 children ages 18, 16, 11 and 9. Their children have attended St John Prep High School and St. Joan of Arc Elementary School of Jackson Heights.
Judge Robert Beltrani stated "This election is not about partisan politics it is about good government and what's best for our community. As a parole Judge I am often called upon to determine whether a convicted felon has violated his or her parole and should be returned to jail to complete his sentence. It is clear to me that both of my opponents have violated the public trust and must not be returned to office. That would be a crime. It is clear to me our community deserves better than this and can do better than this. I have served my community for many years as an Administrative Law Judge and as a State Committeeman. My wife and I are raising a family in this community and I will fight to clean up Albany to better serve my community."
QGOP Chairman Phil Ragusa stated "I've known Bob Beltrani for many years. He is a family man, an accomplished attorney, public servant and judge. He has the integrity and the ability to serve the people of Queens well and none of the outrageous and offense baggage that surrounds Monserrate and Peralta. Let's hope that voters put partisanship aside and vote for integrity and good government and vote for Judge Robert Beltrani for State Senate this March 16! Voting for Judge Betrani will send a strong message that corruption and violence are unacceptable."

Bayside attorney and civic leader Vince Tabone, the Queens GOP's nominee for Northeast Queens' 26th Assembly District.
Queens County Republican Party Endorses Vince Tabone for Assembly
For Immediate Release:

At their executive committee meeting on January 13th, the Queens County Republican Party unanimously endorsed Bayside attorney and civic leader Vince Tabone for the 26th Assembly District, encompassing the neighborhoods of Auburndale, Bayside, Bay Terrace, Douglaston, Whitestone and parts of Little Neck, Floral Park, Flushing, Glen Oaks and New Hyde Park, Queens.
Tabone, who volunteers as the party’s executive vice president, thanked the GOP’s executive committee for their backing.
“I am truly grateful for your encouragement and early support. It’s time to restore real, responsible and accountable representation for Northeast Queens in the Assembly. Volunteering in our community, one thing I keep hearing is that middle class New Yorkers are being nickeled and dimed by a government that is recklessly spending us deeper into debt. I will work tirelessly for fiscal responsibility and lower taxes to create jobs. And as a father raising my kids right here in Queens, I am committed to improving our schools and protecting our quality of life,” said Tabone.
Queens County Republican Chairman Phil Ragusa said, “I’m proud to endorse Vince Tabone for Assembly. The incumbent has failed to represent Queens’ middle class. She moved out of Queens to a Long Island mansion and has the worst attendance record in the Assembly. The Assemblymember only shows up to work 38% of the time, and when she does, votes to raise taxes and increase spending. Vince Tabone is committed to our community and will bring fiscal sanity to Albany.”

Queens GOP Chairman Calls for Investigation into
Assembly Member Carrozza’s Legal Residence
Says Public Needs Stricter Oversight and Reform in Albany
(Queens, NY) With the recent revelation that Assembly Member Ann Margaret Carrozza moved last year to a sprawling mansion in tony Glen Head, Long Island and has turned her district residence into a rental property, violating state residency laws for elected officials, Queens GOP officials have begun to call for an investigation by the District Attorney, Attorney General and NYS Board of Ethics to protect the residents of the 26th Assembly District from being defrauded from having a full-time Assembly Representative.
According to Party Chairman Phil Ragusa, “In this time when Albany dysfunction is at an all-time high and government spending is out of control at every level of government, spurring tea parties from coast to coast, we need to be extremely diligent in demanding real reform from our elected officials. And the most basic reform we should demand is that officials truly live in the districts they are elected to represent, as required by law. There have been too many of these allegations over the years and we must now get serious about protecting the public from this type of fraud. The integrity of our entire democratic system is at risk here.”
While courts have historically been rather flexible in their interpretation of what constitutes a primary resident when office holders own or rent multiple residences, GOP officials note that by Carrozza’s own public statements she no longer maintains a residence by legal standards.

The Queens County Republican Party's Executive Committee met tonight and unanimously voted to endorse Mayor Michael Bloomberg for a third term. The Queens Republican Party's vote follows that of the Kings, Richmond and Bronx County Republican Executive Committees and paves the way for Mayor Bloomberg to run once more on the Republican Party's line.
County Executive Committee Members present enthusiastically indicated that Bloomberg's reputation as a strong, independent-minded city manager made him the best candidate to oppose the likely Democratic party nominee Bill Thompson. Moreover, Bloomberg would ensure that the policies championed by both his administration and that of Rudy Giuliani's, including Mayoral control of schools, charter schools, common sense tough on crime policies, and aggressive addressing of quality of life concerns, were among the best reasons to return the Mayor to office for a third term.

On Saturday, April 4, 2009, the Queens County Republican Party hosted its highly anticipated annual candidates school. The half-day seminar held at the County Headquarters was attended by over 50 GOP potential candidates, activists and Party leaders, as experienced campaign consultants and operatives lectured on the fundamentals of running for office.
In addressing the school, Chairman Ragusa remarked, "Our goal is to give prospective candidates the tools they need to run effective and successful campaigns."
Robert Hornak, prominent GOP consultant often appearing on NY1 television, currently Deputy Director of the New York City office of Assembly Minority Leader James Tedisco (R-Schenectady), and candidate for Queens Borough President, co-organized the event with Jay Golub, President of GSB Consulting, a former candidate for New York City Public Advocate. Golub discussed the basics of campaign mechanics,20including deciding to run for office, and contrasting yourself with your opponent, while Hornak, a campaign finance expert, talked about working with the City’s Campaign Finance Board’s system.
Executive Vice Chairman Vince Tabone, a prominent attorney and former Giuliani and Pataki administration official, spoke about how candidates can work with the Republican Party in terms of the nomination and petitioning process. Jason Weingartner of the well-known political consulting and fundraising firm Blaney Associates, discussed fundraising at length.
Daniel Egers, Executive Director of the Queens Republican Party, talked about media relations, press releases and letters to the editor as ways for candidates to increase their name recognition in a cost-effective manner. John Bougiamas, Vice Chair of the Candidate Recruitment and Development Committee who designed the Queens Republican Party's website, qgop.com, talked about the use of technology in campaigns. The campaign school’s syllabus and accompanying power point has been posted on the party’s website. Renowned GOP attorney Robert Bishop talked about retail campaigning and GOTV (Get Out the Vote) operations, stressing the importance of personal contact in local races.
Chairman Ragusa concluded, "The turnout was tremendous and the speakers were right on target. I expect exciting, victorious campaigns this year and in 2010."
