Queens GOP Makes Major Endorsements in Statewide and Local Races
May 17, 2010 – At the Queens Republican Party’s May Executive Committee meeting, a number of important endorsements were made in critical races in the effort to take control of the U.S. Congress and the N.Y. State Senate.
In the highly anticipated race to challenge Sen. Kristin Gillibrand, the Queens GOP endorsed former Congressman Joe DioGuardi. The committee expressed their belief that DioGuardi, a CPA, had both the experience and fiscal acumen to beat Gillibrand and lead the way for reform in Washington. To challenge Sen. Chuck Schumer, the committee endorsed Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos, who has successfully been leading the effort to reform Nassau’s budget woes in the face of crippling taxation and red ink.
To replace Andrew Cuomo as Attorney General the Queens GOP endorsed the highly regarded Staten Island District Attorney, Dan Donovan, in what is seen as one of the most competitive statewide races and possibly the best chance for a GOP pick up.

Queens Republican County Chairman Phil Ragusa today blasted former Senate candidate and current New York City Councilman James Gennaro for his scathing and disgraceful concession statement to newly re-elected Senator Frank Padavan.
“Jim Gennaro’s concession statement was the most classless, selfish and outrageous act of political lying I have ever heard or seen in all my years of politics. Gennaro’s campaign, run by the political operatives at the Parkside Group was the nastiest and dirtiest campaign Queens or New York City has been witness to in recent times. I am appalled that at a moment when he could have been gracious, he decided to continue on down the low road and blatantly lie about the events of the last three months,” Ragusa said.
“Mr. Gennaro, the residents of Queens will see through your deceptions and discover you are nothing but a petty, selfish man obsessed with furthering your own political career,” Ragusa said.
Chairman Ragusa highlighted the following facts to refute the lies Gennaro has spread in the media in recent months.
